Fin Whale
The Fin Whale has a strange asymmetry: The left lower jaw is coloured black and the right lowered jaw is white! This unique characteristic and the whale’s large size make it easy for whale watchers to identify this whale species.

I’ve seen these whales and they are gigantic, just like
blue whales
! Yet, they are more agile and faster than blue whales.
Length and Weight
The whales inhabiting the northern hemisphere are smaller than those from the southern hemisphere.
Average male length: 23 m
Average female length: 25.5 m
Body weight: 45 - 64 tonnes (45,000 – 64,000 kg)
At birth, the calf is about 6 m long and weighs about 18 tonnes (1800 kg). That is about as much as 6.5 adult grizzly bears!
